Karl joined the Plesa Lab as a Postdoctoral Scholar in 2023. He received his Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Michigan and completed postdoctoral research at Oregon State University. His research uses cutting-edge molecular biology techniques to reveal the functional response of microbial communities to environmental change.
