Mollie Scanagatta-Long

Lab Manager, Deku Lab
Mollie Scanagatta-Long joined the Knight Campus in April 2023 as the Lab Manager for the Deku Lab. Graduating with honors, she received her Bachelor's of Science in chemistry at the University of Oregon in 2022. During this time, she did research in solid state chemistry and cardiopulmonary respiratory physiology. She received her Master's in materials science & characterization chemistry from the UO in 2023. While pursuing her master's, she utilized Focused Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscopy (FIB-SEM), Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM), and Microcomputed Tomography (Micro-CT) techniques to better understand the microstructure of the cornea. She also researched how X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) quantify chemical composition in transition metal dichalcogenides deposited via Modulated Elemental Reactants (MER) method. She is excited to apply her materials science and chemistry background to neuroengineering research in the Deku Lab.
