Research Assistant, Gardner Lab

Luke Strgar is a research assistant and part of the Gardner Lab at the Knight Campus. Luke received his B.A. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 2018. Luke has past research experience in modeling infectious disease transmission, and he has also worked in engineering and managerial roles in a variety of industries such as financial technology, consumer health products, and consumer software.

Luke is deeply interested in how computational methods can assist the study of the brain and how, in turn, a better understanding of the brain can inform the development of robust artificial intelligences. His current work focuses on algorithmic techniques for processing and annotating birdsong in real time to facilitate a more sophisticated study of motor and social learning in songbirds.
